I have standard springs now but thinking bout switching to beehive on a 604.. Is they any advantage to the beehives over the standard springs or would I be jus wasting money on em?? Any info is appreciated!
Standard. vs Beehive Springs

They last longer and simply a better spring out of the box. No real "blueprinting" required to end up with a good set of springs which was certainly the case with old style stuff.
Call Brad at Race1 and get the kit from him and follow his instructions. There's a bit more to it than just swapping the springs but it is worth the time and money.

Will I have to change my rocker arms? Talked to 2 engine builders locally and they Said I would if I had old style springs and 1 that said I wouldn't but Idk if they're jus trying to get more money out of me or what.. Haha thanks for the help!

Thanks for the plug guys...
this rocker arm question has been constant enough that I should have put pictures on our website a long time ago
the web guy will be in tomorrow and I will get that up so its easy to identify.
in the meantime 2010 is when GM made the rocker arm transition
on the RF corner of your block will be a "block" date code 0P04 is a 2010 and in that year it could have been built with either rocker arm
however actual identification should always be made as rocker arm replacement could have been done at anytime by a service person
old style rockers will have stamped in numbers on top
new style rockers have NO stamped numbers or logo----they have a lazer 1.5 and a lazer chevy bowtie
old style rockers use thrust washers beside the roller tip to align ----the washers are separate from the roller
new style rockers have the alignment guides incorporated into the roller (its all one piece)
the change over on springs is not hard but as stated there is more to it than just swapping parts
I have to get in the shop now but will add more to the subject later

back to the original question

you are not waisting money on them----as matt stated they last longer
the worst bee hive out performs the best old style (talking legal GM)
the bee hive is a progreesive rate spring and has low side specs on seat pressure but has high side specs on open pressure
the quality of the spring material is better and the hardware used with it is much better than old style
with old style springs the recommended service interval was 7 to 10 races
now we run this stuff for an entire season even when there are more than 50 events
the down side on change over is the time it takes to install them
you have to replace EVERYTHING---some guys have left the old styl locating shim in to keep from removing the valve seal-------the old style shim does NOT fit the bee hive spring and will fail very quickly
also when chaging the springs you will notice a burr at the top of the keeper groove
it must be removed----but the tricky part and time consuming part is removing that burr without destroying the valve
a sraight file is the best tool but you have to be careful to keep the file square to the stem of the valve so that you do not round the keeper groove-----take your time --this requires patience but will make your change over successful -----call me if you have any questions
the burr that i am referring to is primarily on the intake valve although you should inspect the exhaust as well

Great to hear from you brother!!!
I know that you are joking but I will confirm because I will get some calls
NO you cannot use bee-hive components on 602 engines
602 spring system has not changed since the beginning

lol, I love the 602 just like it is/was. Mine was produced 11/09/2006, I got it new in 2008 and it was rebuilt in 2010. Now I'm gonna put it back in my car (yes the yellow GRT) and go play this year. Are the newer 602's with the lighter Pistons etc holding up as good as the old ones?

we are getting off topic now but since you asked-----------
the newer style piston is MORE durable than the older stuff----the alloy is better and has coated skirt.-----(talking 602 pistons)
the only issues are the same ones that we have always had
when a guy is not familiar with how a timing light works and ends up pounding them with way too much timing they melt
but so will a high dollar race piston in those conditions
Chris ---are you still gonna run your exhaust back beyond the rear bumper? (slight exaggeration)
can't really say it was wrong as you made a lot of 604 guys scratch their heads with that combination as you drove on by
