Renegade E85 vs Pump 85

Is they any differences or advantages between the fuels? Does the racing e85 give anymore hp over the pump e85?

Consistency is the difference

pump e85 is very inconsistent in content of gasoline to ethanol ---we have seen it from 65% to 95%
Renegade is dead on

in most cases pump e85 is stored in underground tanks making it susceptible to moisture ond debris
Renegade is put directly into drums and sealed

the actual gasoline used for making the mixture is also inconsistent with "pump" blends
Renegade uses the same gasoline everytime

all that said it sounds like we are promoting racing blends of e85----NOT so
we have found that with a little bit of investigation into a good source and some effort into checking and adjusting the content mixture e85 "pump" blends work just fine

we have put them head to head and seen no difference but if you have ever talked to me on the phone you know the first thing i say is---
"it's not a lazy man's fuel"-----you have to stay on top of it and take care of it

if time and effort are a problem a racing grade of e85 may be your best choice

We have been running renegade for over a year great quality always right on 85%. Now as Brad was saying the pump e85 is very inconsistent I have a store less than a mile from my shop that sells pump e85 and we have checked it several times and it can vary from 60-92% ethanol, on a fuel injected car this is not an issue but with a carb there is now way for the fuel system to adjust for the difference in ethanol content.Also if you go with the renegade keep the fuel agitated and setting on a pallet and not directly on the concrete floor to keep moisture out.

We have a pretty good source for pump e85 it was good all last year but we started last year with a drum of renegade e85 then went to pump later on we plan to do the same again this year.Pump e85 is down to like 1.45 a gallon a drum of renegade is 320 with tax quite a savings with pump e85.

GRT62 talks about storage on a pallet rather than on a concrete floor-----storage is a topic with any fuel and this is a very good tip
also he points out that the fuel should be agitated-----GREAT TIP
ethanol and gasoline have 2 different weights and 2 different evaporation rates----although they mix amazingly well agitateing the fuel before pulling it out of the drum for use or testing is recommended
best way to agitate is with clean compressed air (long blow gun works super)

RW57 points out that early season "pump" mixtures are off on content ----in northern states this is almost always true
its called winter blend and the content is usually around 70%
bringing the content up is more difficult than down, so in the early season the use of a racing grade can be beneficial in time and cost.

I don't know if its available where you guys live, but there is a vender down here that sells e93 , its like a 20 cents a gallon higher and I found it easier to cut it down to e85 than to bring a low grade e85 up to test standard.
