Im currently not getting any oil to the top of the heads.. have 40lbs of oil pressure at idle.. but no oil is coming to the rockers arms.. I just had a new set of lifters put in.. I had both Valve covers off and no oil can be seen coming on to rockers...what could be happening??

how long did you prime it?
it takes a while to bleed the air from the lifters-----they will bleed out better without pre-load
we prime all of our engines with the posilocks removed until oil is flowing from all the lifters and then adjust the valves with primer still running
sometimes it takes up to 20 minutes to get good oil flow

Oh ok.. well definitely not that long.. but we have ran 2 25 lap races and never heard what we are hearing now in the valve train.. Sounds just like the rockers are loose. I went through all the valves last night and set the lash. Some were loose but when we started the engine back up, still heard the sound of rockers being loose. So we took valve covers back off and actually started the engine up and no oil came up to the top of the head. I mean none on either side... we ran the engine for about 45 seconds to a min.. and I know it takes a little time to get the oil up there.. Also the engine did run hot that last race.. Water Temp up to 240-245...we run Renegade Synthetic Blend 10-30.. should I run thicker oil to keep lifters pumped up? Do I need to change rockers now since I don't know how long top end been with lack of oil? I do have the old style rockers with new beehive kit.. If I get the new rockers, do I have to re-shim the springs, etc? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks..Comment

if you ran a race with NO oil to the top the pushrods would be welded to the rocker arms
so the fact that they are not showing noticeable damage tells me that you are getting some oil
here is what I would do
take all the rocker arms off
inspect the pushrod seat in them for metal transfer do to lack of oil
leave all the pushrods laying in the lifter---the head gasket will keep them straight
remove the distributor
install a drill driven PRIMER---NOT a rod an actual primer---they are about 20 bucks and fairly easy to find
run the primer and verify that oil is or is not coming up the pushrods

you should definitely get a half set of new style rockers and install them on the intakes----you are just asking for a failure if not
lets make sure something else is not wrong before we start buying parts though
