    While not cheap, wind tunnel time can be had for around 375.00 an hour if you do your research and willing to travel. Still a big investment though for most people.

    There are simulation programs and apps out there that can give you a general idea out there as to what could be happening with some simple/basic drawings and rather cheap and interesting to mess with.

      OK Red neck engineer, Build scale car. Weight it like real car for percentages. Build your wind tunnel with a good fan and box. Mount scale car to accurate letter scales on each corner. Turn on fan and you will see down force in scale weights. Make changes and weights will change. Make no mistake, these weight compared to over all weight don't seem right sometimes but down force can be big or not much at all due to little things. Pay particular attention to front wheel openings and hood seal off. Sealing off front bumper to ground is also important. A happy medium of clearance and seal is what your looking for. Play with ride height and body mount height. You can smoke the air to see flow if you want. Suck the air threw and watch the seal between floor and 4 scales.

        Any new thoughts on this? I feel we have a better understanding of airflow than we did 8 years ago.

          I think billet pretty much covered everything their was to cover. Deck mounted oil coolers flow plenty of air and are effective. Bigger coolers and moving them forward is a waste and not worth the investment or increased potential of damaging a cooler in my opining. Usually the guys fighting oil temp have another problem and their looking at it from the wrong line of thinking. The only thing that wasn't mentioned in the previous post is capacity if your struggling to keep oil temps down and your 100%certain their are no other issues. The easiest remedy is to run more oil. This is the reason most supers now run 4 to 5 gallon tanks. Also if you had to pick a place to add weight to the car. The tank area is much more prefferable from a handling standpoint. Nose weight is a terrible thing to fight

            More oil capacity is not a good solution to lower oil temperature. I've done testing on large diesel engines and proven that theory wrong.

              More fluid capacity in any cooling system with the same thermal load is gonna reduce temperatures that's not a theory it's fact

                  If the bigger sump dissipate more heat. Otherwise, just takes longer to reach equilibrium
