Front tire stagger

In one of my older racing books, the engineer states that late models should use no less than 1 5/8" stagger. He claims there are harmonics involved if the front tires size nearly equalizes due to weight transfer.

Anyone care to take a stab at it?

I seriously doubt that a stagger LF tire over a RF has that much difference in Hz that it resonates at, when looking at the difference between dirt tires and the enormous variance they have in them. You can get info on asphalt tires and where a cup car resonates at, but good luck finding that for a dirt car.

Just my opinion, but if you researched dirt tires some you will probably understand some of my reasoning.

Would those harmonics cancel out when a giant clod of mud gets stuck in the LF?
