Trying to loosen entry and roll the center better to get in the gas sooner.
Would you....raise the LRL bar on the frame OR lengthen the chain limiter?
That question is so hard to answer these days, with the different ways guys are limiting the rear and the affect that has on how/when the rear is steering under the car. If all of the part of the corner is coasting time, where you want to be looser, I'd just back a little load out of the LF spring.
Thanks for the pep talk.
I know what I want the car to do but this set up I'm on....I just don't like it and I don't know how to fix it, it's almost as if it has several problems and I can't figure out which to start with. Seems like anything I do to it on the LR, is hindering the RR back on the throttle. I think it's a little tight on entry still but looser than I want to be and it wants to throttle push OR I have to wait until it's pointed in the right direction to pick up the throttle. It goes good then but it's way too late and I'm still slow.
I'm used to driving it in, maybe a little snug off throttle, on the brake and having it drive off the RR to carry it all the way around and by exit time, about the flag stand, it's not gaining any more speed but it's already going so good. My corner laps times are about what the straights are. Momentum kinda thing. This set up though, I guess its a turn and burn, back it into wall and drag race down the straight kinda deal and frankly, I hate it. I'm about to chop it this up and start over.
I'm all done ranting now.
I guess I'll take some out of the LF, to drive it in deeper, drag the brake to keep the LR up, and hope like it hell it'll drive off the RR from just before apex through the center until I can get it point in the right direction again. If it don't, I'm going to get out the saw.

Now that I hear you talking about your exit as well, the LF load would hurt you there. Maybe just some static rr trail?
Ill try it.....Got nothing to lose. Can't go more backwards than last place HAHA
I guess to put it another way, this thing doesn't seem to move weight from the LR to the RR, more so than a shock timing thing but more like it needs 9 smaller things leaving the 10th, the already mentioned sawz all approach.
I did that just two weeks ago. I cut off and replaced the chassis mount, moving it in toward the center 1" and straight down 2", That's about where I calculate the moment arm is sitting on top of the RR spring and puts the spring center line tanget with the top of the moment arm and center of RR contact patch. (spring table)
Basically trying to get the weight on top of the spring, pushing down toward the center of the RR contact patch.

Holy change BATMAN, lol
2" down is a freaking huge change. Does the car lay on the RR now and tote the LF pretty good?
I've seen many cars that were decent be turned into complete piles of junk by moving the mount not even that much.
Note: Not saying this doesn't work, but it's a huge change and wanted you to be aware of that. If the track is slow, it can work fine but if the track is big or high speed it can cause some real issues you can't tune around in my experience.
I lost my post dang it.
Anyway,
This isn't a late model. It's a USMTS/USRA type modified. I didnt say that earlier because I asked a generic question of theory and the basic principles still apply. I was actually going for 3" but 2" is all could manage at 3am on a Tuesday when I unloaded the parts cannon trying to make something work.
Sometimes in life when you don't know what to do, doing nothing never did anything, so you run with an idea good or bad and see whweee
It takes ya. That's also kinda how I got to here actually. I have several friends running LateModels though. All you guys operate on a level I've never known and probably never will. I'm just a guy n the shop at midnight when the kids are sleeping and the cows and chickens wondering why I have to be so noisy with all the lights on. I used to be good, a long time ago anyway. Then came the single dad with kids deal and I had to slow down so much I don't get the seat time like I'd like anymore. I feel like I can still play the game though even if just part time.
It's a pretty generic modified set up but for whatever reason I ain't found the trick yet. If I don't figure it out by the time the snow flies imma bury this thing out back with the family dog.
I appreciate yall regulars and my rantings. I can read your words and understand the meaning behind them. It's free advice and I don't take it lightly or for granite.
