    Powertrain Related - Headers

A mere curiosity question, but why do we need different headers based on firing order? Is it only important on a header that is 4, into 2, into 1?

Yes it only matters in try y headers. 4-1 doesn't matter. But it has to do with tunning the pressure waves in order to increase scavaging/efficiency. You really need 180 degree headers to truly match all the appropriate cylinders with each other. In my experience some combos are more sensitive to it then others. I've seen a set of try-ys really wake an engine up and then I've also seen the wrong set of try-ys have virtually no effect on a engine
