The Big Secret is these Cars suck now. The racing is terrible.
The 2 top Touring races are about like watching paint dry.
MARs Series you get to see some interesting racing, guys screw up more and pass.
The Modifieds are even worse, all about of rateched it up crap.
I asked my son the other day, you want to get a fishing boat?

Can't help but agree, at least on the opinion of the cars. Many younger racers would disagree, maybe believe they are "Hi-Tech", but in reality they are far from that, imho. What we have is a sheet of plywood (the body) jacked up on 1 corner by (2) solid rods forcing the diagonal corner to pin itself down in an FDAU (Face Down-A55 Up) attitud, aided by a ridiculously weak spring and hydraulic tie down. The resulting "Teeter-Totter" effect is then maintained by ex$pensive hydraulic limiters/timers we use to use as dampers or shocks to control spring oscillations. Then the plywood sheet tilts to the RR as g-force is induced, further jacking the LR up as it climbs yet another solid bar known as a "J-bar". Most of the weight is carried by the j-bar and the RR spring is only there in a support capacity and many times not needed, proven by several races being won with broken RR shocks. Under acceleration the solid bars on the RR pick up some of the weight to carry the RR and limit carrying the LF in the air too much, also know as a "Wheelie". The LF is the least needed corner of the car (plywood sheet) and can be eliminated once car is in motion also proven out by multiple wins with broken LF suspension. IMV this setup is a collection of crutches held together by expensive hydraulic travel limiters and "tie-down" chains with a big sheet of plywood laid up on top, nothing more. The racing can be good, but the trade of is its expensive to maintain and requires an order of magnitude more time to maintain and setup and is VERY aero dependent. The resulting extreme traction capabilities results in more expensive engines and higher costs across the board. While i generally agree with most of what's being said here i don't think it's just the cars. Most race tracks i go to are an absolute disgrace when it comes to prep and the tire situation is terrible no matter where you race. It's not any one thing and racers are their own worst enemy. The track that i race most was once one of the race-es places on the east coast. The two things that stick out from that eara are they had a good tire rule and they used points handicaping weekly. They went half way back last year with partially bringing back handicaping and the racing improved but per usual the racers bitched and the track returned to the current format. National racing has mostly been train racing in any event 50 laps or less as long as i can remember. Mostly because of the format. If the fastest guy starts on the pole everyone is gonna follow him and that just adds to the already 1 lane racetrack most of the time. On a local level you have to do something to promote passing and to help your track become multiple grooves. Hard tires and handicaping or inverting are the only way your gonna do it in a short race. It's not so much that the cars are just aero dependent bill boards but more that everyone is so much closer night in and night out and their are less gains to be found. That's just natural evolution.
