I noticed Pierce has a larger deck mounted oil cooler than typical. Any issues with pressure/flow? Anything different on the pump to handle a larger cooler? Didn't know if anyone has tried one, but I was thinking about it.

Larger cooler will have no effects on pump requirements if anything it would help the pump because a larger cooler should yeild less of a pressure drop. It will add to the capacity of the system so you'll need to run a little more oil. Alot of people don't realize it but the oil does a large percentage of the overall cooling of the engine. Since the front of the cars has the size of radiator that can easily be run kinda fixed the only other way to add more cooling is via the oil system. Overheating has always been a battle in slm racing and the noses have gotten more sealed off and lower and the power has went up but the radiator and fan hasn't really changed so it's necessary to find more cooling elsewhere. Pierce also has a history of running them hard and hot so I could imagine they take extra precautions to helpOriginally posted by FlatTire View PostI noticed Pierce has a larger deck mounted oil cooler than typical. I talked to Vic hill about this. He recommended the fluidyne oil cooler and a radiator from Saldana. He says it will really make a difference. I bought both for my rocket but haven’t run it yet. The radiator is about the same size as the keyser that came from rocket but maybe 1/4 inch thicker and the oil cooler is probably 30% bigger surface area than my prc but thinnerOriginally posted by Jking24 View Post

Vic would be a good guy to talk to on the subject because not only does he build them he actually races them currently.Originally posted by doyle hargraves View Post
