    Orange spray

    This past saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway waiting to go out for my heat a guy in a Hoosier jacket was spraying tires with what looked like a pepper spray bottle.Paint or whatever,it was orange.Was spraying rf's and rr,s randomly.Anyone know what this is and what its used for?

    It's regular upside down marking paint used in laying out excavation sites and post holes. The check the tires and paint them because you have to qualify on the same tires you heat race with

      At lucas there is no rule for same tire through event, probably they marked the ones that passed either a sniffer or durometer test. Sometimes they have a sniffer and they have a hardness punch rule.

        They just use it to mark the tire that has already been visually inspected. They spray it on the compound stamp so that it makes it easier for them to quickly find the compound when you cross the scales later with that same tire.
