2006 Lazer Black Spindle Car runs a FORD All Steel motor. Being its weight is different then the Chevy Where would you run it. As of now its to the right and in the middle holes of three on the Midplate. Lazers have a traction off problem amongst other things, trying to re-baseline a buddies car starting from the ground up....

Any Insight on the Engine placement? I know steel engines are normally up and right being this one is heavier then a normal chevy most people run do you think I should be higher as a rule of thumb or is middle a good place to start

Yeah I just need engine placement the rest is covered thanks, and it's a 351W, ill find out for sure. But is the weight the same as far as the weight being high or low on the assembly?

Because of the center of gravity of the engine and where its mass is steel motors are almost always up and right and aluminum is down and left. I just need to know if this particular motor needs to be different being most people run chevy.

Latemodels4life. Yes Lazers have a traction problem off the corner in the older cars. I'm no novice tuner I work mostly with Rockets. The Diamond Lazer Spindle is even sold as a spindle to fix "Traction up" problems compared to the older black spindle, which this one is. You can try all your normal traction techniques (5 coil changes, Bar Angle changes, Rear Weight, Shock tricks and its just not quite the same as the rest Kind of like the Blue Grey rocket can be on exit, but the Lazer is still a spectacular car in my opinion just trying to get some info on the difference in an all steel ford (351W) compared to like a 358 steel chevy

Just to give a little insight here is what has been done. The car/driver was complaining of the car not being able to run the bottom and being snap loose on exit. The basic setup they used was 600LF 350 RF 300LR 200RR, Standard Jbar Settings, 40lbs bite, on afco t2 shocks 75-3 LF 73-8 LR, LRF dummy LRR 96.25-2 RR 4-6. Neutral Bars, #2 index on LRU BC. and Lazers Baseline LS and Rear Weights on 3 wheel Brake. He doesn't have the HSR RF that I'd run because hes running the basic front t-2's I've suggested he go to 4 wheel brake a 525 LF 350-375 RF (I'd prefer 375 hes stuck on 350} 225RR(for now) and 200LR on 80-100lbs bite (track never goes slick stays fairly tacky) on shocks LF75 RF73-8 (Add compression in the heavy), RR 74.25 and LR if he can't find a LRF 4-0gas to pair with a 5-3 rear run a 7-1 single on the LRR till he can find the right shock.

If the block is stock then you are looking around 520# total engine weight. I changed engines and my current engine is an older Ford Racing block and it weighed exactly 20# heavier than my old engine with the same steel head. SBC is around 460#.

Do you know if the extra weight is in the block or the heads? I'm going to assume the block.....
