Suggestions for Static LR bite

What is a good starting point for LR bite, and how do you determine if you need more or less. The car is a 2009 Shaw 4bar. Thanks

Simple , just start with what your chassis maker recommends. If you don't have setup sheets , call Shaw . Chassis makers want their cars to go fast , they will gladly help you.

this will probably sound silly but as much as it takes to drive forward but not so much that its to free going in,dont worry about the numbers so much,but the chassis manufactures starting point will be somewhere in the middle

I have setup cars with as much as 200# LR bite OR as much as 80# of RR bite. As posted, start with reccomended numbers and tune from there.

This is also something you may want to adjust at the race track so spend some time on the scales getting to know how much your changes make.
Also, most people are amazed at how much a bar change affects static bite. If you make bar changes at the track, you shoulc be interested in knowing what that is doing to your bite. Statically and dynamically.

We have a newer shaw and have found with our IMCA 2bbl motor it liked around 80lbs of LR. With our crate in it, it likes 0 to 40lbs RR.

Start with the builders recomendation but experiment with it. I had a Rayburn swingarm that liked way over 300 lbs. left rear bite and then I had a 4 bar that ran best with 0 left or a slightly heavy RR. Remember too springs are part of the equation but always start with what the builder wants then work around that.
