    Transponder

I have been toying with the idea of buying a transponder instead of renting every week.

This is going to sound dumb, but will the new mini transponders that are for RC racing work at the track? They are 1/4 the cost.

I'm sure the answer is no. But smaller and lighter usually means more expensive. Or is it just less technology in that smaller package? Or less power?

I dont believe they will, but one for gokarting will. I think the go kart ones are designed for speeds under 100mph, and the racecar ones are for over 100mph. A buddy uses the go kart one on his modified without issue.

power source is the problem with the R/C transponder. plus signal strength.
Typically R/C stuff, the scoring loop, and the transponder will be closer together (ride height of cars or trucks, probably won't be over a couple inches apart.)
I think there should be lifeguards in the genepool.

Glad I race where they give you one, and just don't give you your pay till you check it back in. Scoring is the cost of running a track, either a person or person and transponder, not a race car item to rent... That would be frustrating.

It's the punch line to the joke known as racing.
