The only way to know for sure would be to chassis dyno both rear ends with everything else being the same

There is a weight savings in most cases.

the advantage is only gear selection in a given range. who really needs a high 7 or 8.40 gear with a lm or even a modified. as fare as hp or rotating wt most likely non or very small either way.

There is a weight savings on rotating weight and a reduction in heat and friction.
