Grt cars w/hard tires

Why does everyone say grt cars are so good on hard tires? I was wondering what is different versus other cars that makes people think this. Thanks

Hard tires and a short track there hard to beat sometimes.

GRT's are built "tighter" than a typical car. Look at how far the LR is up under the chassis.

I have worked on a few GRTs and they are always tight when there's traction

Ya. GRTs r built for dry slick tracks

Mine is better on harder tires also.

What is it that makes the cars so tight?? Chassis wise??

Chassis center line compared to the rearends center. Rear and front roll center locations and bar geometry and load points when compared to the tires contact patch location.
The farther that you move the chassis over the top of the RR the more weight the chassis will place on top of it when it rolls over.

we run on hooked up tracks at times with open tires and you have to really free it up on entry but other than that we dont have that much trouble with them but i will say this you have to change more than some other cars to get it ready for feature time when it slicks back off

Grt builds cars in an area where every track mandates d55 wrs tires. They have to tailor to them since 90% of their sales are to d55 tire guys. Also Phillips runs mostly hard tire tours and give lots of feedback.

The others hit on why the chassis works that way, but I was just hitting on why they focused their cars to doing well with hard tires.

Isn't this why they struggle at East Bay? Too tight. Didn't they make a frontend change in 2000 or 2001 that made them freer, but then changed them back, until recently?
