Some newer ones have them stamped into the tube cap on the rear of the left side frame rail.

Where at on the steering column look all around it and couldn't find it

It's on top toward the middle and runs front to back of the car. You might have to clean the dirt or oil off the column to see it. Even paint can fill it in.

i had to take gauge panel out to get to mine...

Brian it's never been under.... It's awalys been hand stamped into the TOP of the bracket. Depending on who put the dash in it maybe under it or behind it. In early 2013 we started also stamping it in the cap on the left frame rail end behind the driver
