steering shaft length

im having trouble with the steering wheel real close to me while im racing can I just cut the steering shaft and shorten it or do I have to buy a certain size shaft thanks a lot

Keep in mind a few things though. Keeping the steering wheel close will make you steer more with your shoulders vs using your arms and you have more strength typically in your shoulders. This will help with stamina.

Spend the money on a collapsible steering shaft instead. Safer and easily adjusted to your liking.
