    Rack question

What ratio rack r guys using now days. Im just getting back into a late model and seem to have move my hands way farther than I did when I raced a late model before. Old car had an Appleton 3.4 and this one has Sweet 3 1/2. shouldn't they be comparable?

I run a 4-1/4 but we run mostly smaller tracks (1/4-3/18). On bigger tracks you can get by with a 3-1/2 but if you have to do a lot of wheel work through the corners you're going to have your hands full.

Depends how long your steering arms are. In a car with 5" steering arms you can run a 4.19 or 4.45 but if you have 4.5" or shorter you need a slower ratio. if you had old rayburn style 4" arms that 3.5" rack would be plenty fast.

There is a table on Sweets website that tells you your final ratio based on rack size and steering arm length.
