Late model shop stands

Does anyone have a layout on how to properly build a set of mobile shop stands? Width? Pipe used? What size casters? Thanks.

most of those casters have a weight rating, just divide 2300 by however many casters you are going to use, ie if you had 4 casters on a back stand and 4 on the front, that's 2300 / 8 = 287 lbs so get 300 pound casters like this :

you'd be rated up to 3200 lbs with those 10 dollar casters

I'd recommend the metal wheel castors. The softer materials can increase the resistance to roll and when it sits for a long time they can flat spot.

I would like to build a set also, they are very nice. You could go solid rubber tires as well

I used polyurethane casters for mine. No issues with flat spots. I over-built the casters because when my head is on the line I don't want a the caster to fail. Mine were 750# each so each stand could support the entire weight of the car with ease, by itself. Another reason I went with these casters is they will stand up to anything on a shop floor (grease, oils, fuel, etc) without breaking down.

I also want to add, accidentally, my front stands will sit angled in the frame of the rear stands so it makes them more compact.
