    Dry sump question

I am currently using a Petersen 5 stage dry sump. Im in the process of changing engines and the one going in is only set up for a 4 stage. Can I cap off one of the scavenges and use my current pump. On Petersens web site it says not to but Ive had other guys tell me its ok. Looking for more thoughts from some engine experts. Thanks

Same setup here. On mine, the unused scavenge line goes to a port on the top rear right side of the block, just behind the heads on the block.

Hard to see, but it's the red-capped port in this photo :

Probably picks up enough oil at this location to keep the pump oiled. Not sure, not an expert, but I've been running it this way for 10+ years.

I f you only have 2 ports on the pan. I would take a Y fitting and connect 2 suction stages to the back port.

Some blocks are not drilled in that location. His may very well be.
