So whats the deal with a split birdcage, how were they done? I've never seen one, was this part of the "Rumley Device" or something different?

Not the Rumley device. Came about when folks were trying to catch the Rumley device.

Separate cage for 4 links and shock mount.

So like a clamp bracket? Or did the half with the spring attached have its own rod too?

I believe this is what the real "Rumley" Devise is.
I think there was a lot of smoke in mirrors, with all the bolted on stuff they had to cover it up

Was it just LR or both LR & RR? So a 5 link suspension then if only the LR I suppose. Yet another cool device outlawed.

LR. Only, as far as what I have seen people try. I had a similar deal that I think I could get passed almost any tech.
