Is there anyway to tell what a spring rate is if its not writen on the spring?

Even if its written on it the only way to know is rate it on a rater.
Even new springs I buy are not right most of the time, they vary enough that I rate them and go by that #.

Nope, as SCD said, A spring rater is the only way. They are a good investment if you are gonna be racing in a class where you want to change spring rates and try different set ups. I bought mine used on here for $200.00 Best $200.00 I ever spent.
