    sbc exhaust manifold question

did chevy ever use a tube type exhaust manifold in their pickups like ford did with the 5.0 mustang gt? i'm the tech man at a small dirt track and had a guy say the short tube headers were stock on pickups. i've never seen one and i talked to some chevy techs and they said no way. i think they were some aftermarket short tube headers that bolt up to the stock exhaust pipes he found in a wrecking yard and figured they were stock. they were a rear dump design. i figure there might be someone on here that knows for sure. thanks.

Yes they made them. Not legal at almost every track that requires a stock manifold. BUT, they did come from the factory. I will find the application for ya. Eric

huh.... Well the one I posted is the only tube style SBC manifold that I know came from the factory.

Maybe someone else will have more info about this.

In the future just change your rules to "cast iron" manifolds. That will rule out any tube style manifold. Eric

I agree our rules state "cast iron" where we race at and I ain't never seen a stock header as you describe. Please get a picture and post if possible of the suspected car exhaust then you could get a definate answer.

they look something like this. we allow headers but they have to run a more restrictive exhaust then the cast iron manifolds.. they were trying to pass these off as oem. i didn't believe them but i wasn't 100% sure, so i asked you guys. they ended up being dq for an illegal intake so i didn't have to push it. thanks for your help.
