If you are just starting out, you definately do not need a big engine... We won a track championship at Charleston with a 400 bored .060 with flat top KB pistons and an Elgin 1090 cam... Nothing special, and never paid more than $20 for a tire... Plain and simple, its not all about HP, its about track and driving. If your track is dryslick that HP ain't gonna help you much. Get some seat time with the motor and go from there... 3d knows what he is talkin about when it comes to not needing a bunch of motor. Watch his vids, its all driver. I don't think we won more than maybe 1 or 2 heat races, won a bunch of features with that motor... It died 17 weeks, but anywhere we went a top 5 motor... Put in a borrowed even smaller motor and went out and won. We finished 26th national, and 9th state points, in UMP

Like this guy. Not horsepower but chassis.

            Get the set-up right.

Charleston, Fayette Co., Lincoln, Macon. I think that is all for the last 2 years. 342 hp at 5900 rpm. I took a pic of the dyno sheet with my phone. Worst finish i got was at Lincoln,5th. But that was set up then and definatley not motor.

                  shadyhill speedway rules

Shadyhill speedway rules are very limited on what at pure street is. no weight jacks, no tubular upper a arms, no skinning of bodies except doors and hood and trunk. DOT street tires. Depending on the car you have it might be easier to run Stock Car than to convert to pure street. Pure street needs bone stock motor. no strokers, no aftermarket intakes, no powerglides, no 9 inch's (rumors that they are considering adding that next year) Stock hydraulic cam, vacuum and lift checked (I know they used to anyway)

If you do not have weight jacks or tubular upper a-s or a skinned body it would not be very expensive to set up car for pure stock class. Get some seat time and change car over for ump stock car next winter.
Pm me if you have any questions.

I believe he stated he was at Shady Hill. I have seen videos of that place. He doesn't need it.
