Will a metric spindle work on a 70's Camaro??

I believe that most 70'-81' Camaros use the same ball joint measurements as 73'-88' Midsize GM Metrics. I think that the only thing is the metric spindle is shorter than the Camaro spindle, and it may not have the strength compared to a Camaro spindle as well. You can use an adapter to use Metric calipers on a Camaro spindle though. I believe Harris makes one.#72W U.M.P Stock Car

The metric spindle is shorter. If you install it on the camaro clip the top a arms will be almost flat, depending on your ride height. I don't think that howe sells a ball joint that is long enough to correct it. I ran the metrics on the camaro one season. I added a 2" riser to the top of the metric spindle to get the roll center corrected. The down side is, the racing is a full contact sport in California and it was a pain to replace them. There was a good weight loss though.Gator Engineering

Ditto on the Impala spindle. You also will have a 12" rotor('91 and up for sure) instead of an 11" rotor in that swap.Originally posted by kc92 View Postu can also use older impala spindals and lowers and i think chevy astro vansLast edited by 500BOMBER; 11-08-2012, 12:49 PM.Old enuf to know better, still too young to givadamm.

Hi
today i have a question which is that I have an 83 z28 camaro and its light blue with silver stripes. It has t-tops also. Did this blue come stock? If so what color blue is it or where can I find out? Also, it has a blueish color fabric interior and I'd also like to know the name of that color is. Is there a web site that says the color combinations that came with the car?

i have the impala spindles and on mine to make it 5x5, they bolt right up but i had to take a tapered reamer to the upper ball joint hold to be able to use a camaro ball joint. The impala spindles and brakes are much beefier though. The camaro tie rods bolt right up to it and the geometry is the sameBritton Settle #10
