I'm not looking for any race secrets here, I've just had some tires that were left outside over the winter and have gotten hard. Just curious if anyone knows anything I can soak them in or put on them to soften the rubber up to normal. Ive heard wd-40 or a simple green mix works well. any ideas?

What I use is...
1 quart diesel fuel
1 quart ATF
and a "splash" of mineral spirits
or just straight wd-40, then wrap the tire in paper towels, soak towels with wd40, then wrap with saran wrap.

I have never used it but I've heard a product called Krud Kutter works well. The speelling may be wrong also..

Krud kutter is a cleaner/degreaser I'm not certain how well that would work. But the deisel any tranny fluid will get them softened back up.Last edited by hrdchrgin13; 04-01-2011, 02:54 PM.

WD40 works great but...
be careful softening your tires with WD40 will work, but they will chunk pretty quick.. You will lose patches of tread after a few weeks if you softened them and your car is hooked up.
