Too much fuel?

Looking for some input ... I am running a 383 has a cast iron intake and had a 650 2bbl on it ... The 650 started leaking out of the shaft so I put the carb on from last year's motor ... It is a 890 cfm aresol 2bbl ... Problem is the car falls flat down the straights ... My question is this ... Am I dumping too much fuel into it .. It does smell like it's running rich ... Any info would help

Would be best to read your plugs what color are they after a race?

Things start to stick and deteriorate when gas is involved and they sit around. I would check to see if the check valve under the squirter is stuck. And check the power valve to see if it is dried and cracked.
