S10 spindles

I hear of people putting s10 spindles on metric cars. Can someone please explain what they are trying to acheive? What the difference between an s10 and metric spindle and what year spindles are they using

Speaking of s-10 parts, I use s-10 brake calipers.... the 4X4 option. the brake hose comes off the top and not the bottom like a metric car. Just one less thing that can get ripped off the car if you race at a track that uses tires to mark the inside of the track. Eric
