Having problems with thrust bearing going away after 2 races, I've talked to friends about this, everything seems to line up okay. I'm thinking it could be the crankshaft? Could I be on the right path? I'll try anything!!

If you're running a manual transmission, be certain the throw-out bearing is releasing completely off the fingers of the clutch pressure-plate. If it isn't, there could be a constant pressure trying to push the crankshaft forward against the thrust bearing. Do you know the crankshaft end-play number when the engine was assembled? -Dave_

Along the same lines as 84Dave has mentioned, also check your clutch travel to make sure it is not travelling too far. If this has happened twice now what is the condition of your crankshaft? If you are using the small journal block with the half thrust bearing then it is going to wear real fast. So check your clutch for free play and possibly too much travel. If the crank is worn then it's done.
