Ford 2.3L Cam gear info.

I am building this engine to install in a Lemons Race car.

I bought a multi indexed cam gear that the seller said was for the 2.3L. Well it doesn't fit.

Is the diameter of the cam snout where the cam gear slides on the same size for the flat tappet cams and the roller cams? I have a roller cam. If they are the same size then I must have a 2.0L Pinto adjustable cam gear. It is the one sold by Ford many years ago as it has some Ford part numbers on it.

Anyone want to buy this? $30 shipped!

Im also near chicago & I have a multi indexed stock appearing ford 2.3L cam gear, sell it for $30. I believe all 2.3L cams should use the same cam gear (snout & outer diameter).

I don't think I need one and the one I was sold turns out to be for the 1.6L & 1.9L CVH engine that came in the Ford Escorts. I found an old Ford Motorsport catalog that listed the part numbers for Adj. Cam gears and the one for the Escort engine matched the part number etched on my gear. The seller has offered to take it back so I may take him up on that.

If you do need one, let me know. Ill never use the stock appearing one I have.
