    Tach Problems

Installed a TFI distributer on a ford 2.3 and when I hook the tach wire to the neg. terminal on the coil (MSD coil) it runs crazy. Is there anywhere else I can hook this wire. I just took off a MSD 6AL box and the tach worked great.

How old is the tach? And does the needle bounce with ign. on & engine off? Thats what mine does (4+ seasons on tach at least), but it reads fine once motor is fired up, at idle or race RPMs. I also have MSD coil & TFI dist. Havent looked into it any further on mine.

Tach is only about 8 Months old and only 6 races on it. Maybe it needs a tach adapter. It is a Accutech Tach form Longacre. Needle does not bounce any with ignition on and motor off. Also noticed that when I went to set the timing, every time I would pull the trigger on the timing light the motor would miss. Hooked it to another battery source and it worked fine. (puzzled)

Do you have just 3 wires wired up on the tfi dist. Black, red and green? Are you running a msd box? 6a ect... If your ru
nning a msd box the tach needs to be hooked to the msd.
