I know nothing about transmission internals so this may be way off base. I run my T-5 in 2nd gear. Is it possible, or worthwhile, to remove 3rd, 4th, and 5th to save weight and rotating mass?

You would drop off on your RPMs more than likely, but just for the fun of it at practice give it a try. Don't know your track size or the ratio's you are running. Prehaps you could let us know this info.

it depends. if you lose every race by a half car length then it is worth a try. if you lose every race by a half a lap then there are other areas to improve on before you worry about the little things. you can remove unneeded parts from the trans but there are a lot of areas to make bigger improvements in.

In my experience at Langley, the best results will be obtained from a good setup and rolling through the corners well.
