Front struts

I am looking for a set of front struts for my 81 mustang and most of the ones I see state they are for an 87 to 93. Is there a difference between the 87 and pre 87? Can I still use the later year struts on the earlier model. Thanks for the advice. CJ

Depends on what yr. & model (LX,GT) spindles you have. One spindle is wider where the strut bolts on, I THINK the newer (87-93) mustang GTs use the "skinny" type spindles. Just get a GT V8 strut for the RF, the only diff. is where it bolts to the spindle. Other than that all 79-93 struts should be the same.
