    Turbo Block Suggestions

Just picked up an '87 2.3 turbo engine (head/block/intake). Overall in very good condition. Anything thoughts / suggestions/ guidance as to modifications or such to get the most out of the block. Will sell the intake and rework the head.

    Thanks

sence its not a svo blobk theres no difference over a normal 2.3 block. u could shave the crap out the hed and just re ring it sence the stock pistons are forged. head studs a must and at least bowl blend. what are ur rules ? cam rule ? what rpm u want to turn ?

you will need different pistons since the t/coupe engine uses dished pistons so you might as well go to aftermarket rods and pistons.

There is nothing special about the turbo engine. No better than a non turbo engine. What you will probably find is the head will be cracked between the valve seats. The 2.3 Ford in stock form had no horse power so they hung a turbo on it to try and boost sales with the SVO Mustang. It was a failure. Don't spend money on it thinking you have something special cause it is not.

OK, Start the bashing... The turbo blocks are cast from truck iron which is a little better grade of iron. Actually all the blocks starting with a certain year ?, were all truck iron but all turbo blocks are, as to were the early blocks were all 1010 cast. Other than lasting a little longer there are no advantages, thickness as well as deck height, is the same

Turbo engines have forged dish pistons with 8.0-1 comp, as apposed to the flat tops that are cast and approx. 9.0-1 JL
