    Air filter base

Does anybody make an air filter base for the holley/weber 5200 carb that you can use a round K&N type air filter? Or what does everybody who runs this carb use for an air filter? I am currently using the oval K&N filter but looking for something better. I don't think I get the best seal with this filter. Thanks.

They make an adaptor plate for the Webber carb to use a standard round filter. I personally have not tried this. They sell them at Redline, (US distributor for Webber).

Universal air filter adapter to adapt all standard 5 1/8 Holley based air filter to the Weber DGV series (Note: the Redline 10" filter and 10" super flow are supplied with this adapter.)

And one thing I always do, with success, when fitting an air-filter/base/lid to any carb. Cut (4) wooden dowels the same length as the height of the air-filter. Position the dowels around the base and under the filter lid. Tighten everything down as you would with base/lid/filter installation. Sit it on your shop bench, atop the carb, and get a serious side-view of the entire assembly. Ideally, the area from the outside filter entry & up/over/into the top of the carb should look similar to a side-view of a decent intake port within a head. For best flow. Then make modifications to the flow area within the assembly as the Rules allow. You might be surprised with the flow improvement you can generate. -Dave-
