The softest DOT tire I have seen recently is around 380. Im using kumho tires with a 740 treadwear rating & those have excellent grip. Look at tread design & tread width more than the treadwear rating (mainly for rear tires), I run good used tires from the boneyard on the front.

Some yokohamas are 50, falken azenis are 200
