I am new to mini stock class was wondering what the difference is in running 5.7 rods on a 2.3 crank compared to running 5.7 rods with a 2.5 crank are the rods and pistons different because I have a good set but I am not sure if they were on a 2.3 crank or a 2.5 crank. thanks

Yes, the pistons are different for the two cranks...Originally posted by mike kline View PostI am new to mini stock class was wondering what the difference is in running 5.7 rods on a 2.3 crank compared to running 5.7 rods with a 2.5 crank are the rods and pistons different because I have a good set but I am not sure if they were on a 2.3 crank or a 2.5 crank. thanks
If you can measure from the wristpin hole to the flat top surface of the piston, the 2.3 crank should measure roughly .646", while the pistons for the 2.5 crank should measure .496"'ish...
That's not the compression height, just the easy way to measure them from the top of the pin bore to the deck of the piston...

The difference between a 2.3 stroke (3.125) and a 2.5 stroke (3.325) is .200No matter how hard you try...you cant fix stupid!!!
If you build it right...it will turn left!!!

the info everyone gave you is good but can be confusing. if the wrist pin is below the oil ring then it is probably a 5.2 rod(2.3). if the wrist pin is in the area of the oil ring then it is probably a 5.7 rod(2.3) piston.
