Or more to the point between a aluminum flywheel/stock type pressure plate or a mini clutch/flex plate. It's for a 2.3 ford on a 1/4 and 3/8 tracks. What are the pros and cons of both? I am running a balanced escort set up now.
Torn between clutches.

i agree with the goldstar. had one in my toyota mod for years and the disc is still good. however at the tracks i run my ministock at we have to run a flywheel that is not alumunum. have always ran an escort setup but this year i am trying a ram coupler. if you are allowed a goldstar then that's what i would run.

Hey Doug this is the clutch I ran for 7 years and no problems and never had to replace the discs. It is made by Coleman Racing Products. (It says it comes with a throw-out bearing but you may want to check to be sure when you order it because they did not send one with mine.) I no longer I have the car or clutch but I know the guy that has it and he may be interested in selling it. I think it needs the clutch pack replaced now. I had the 2 disc version. We raced the 2300 Fords for years and ran this Coleman clutch, Tilton and Gold Star and we thought this clutch was the best of the bunch.Originally posted by Doug_Guilds View PostOr more to the point between a aluminum flywheel/stock type pressure plate or a mini clutch/flex plate. We raced with you guys down at Willard a few times. Those were some fun times. Good Luck!

Sorry crcltrkr but its a 91-96 escort LX 1.9L flywheel that is needed for a 2.3. Also the spline on the escort clutch disc is a different spline & diameter. The mustang clutch kit bolts right up to escort flywheel. The timken 614037 TOB ONLY works with a 4 spd trans, it will NOT fit a T5. And YES get shorter flywheel bolts, loctite them & torque to 65 ft/lb.

I run a ram coupler with an automatic flywheel and starter. flywheel weights 3 lbs and the coupler weights about 6 lbs. my motor turns up REAL QUICK. cant do that with a heavy pressure plate and clutch.
