    Need starter help...

For some unknown reason (to me at least), I have broke the mounting holes off of 4 OEM starters so far and I dont have a clue why it keeps happening! Mild built 2.3L with a T5 trans. I use a starter shim (like always), the first 2 starters i only used the 2 holes in the shim & broke the bottom tab. Last 2 starters i used all 3 holes & now break the middle tab. The shims only have the outer holes so I used a washer as a shim on the middle tab. Never had this issue in 7 years of ministock racing. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

If you use the stock plate that goes between the block and bellhousing, there is no need for a starter shim.

You Need The The Flex plate like TM 44 said, it gives support under engine crank.

I got one & installed it shortly after my last post and no more starter issues...too bad the car got totaled 2 weeks ago.
