How much end play should the shaft have in a TFI distributor? Are there shims available? Thanks

I checked a couple that I have here and they were in the 0.050-0.070 inch range and they have no problems. these are stock tfi units. one came out of my 88 turbocoupe I had and it worked fine.

WOW! That's what I found in a couple of mine and I though they were junk. Looks like the timing would jump all over with that much end play. i just checked 5 different TFI distributors,all .052-.075No matter how hard you try...you cant fix stupid!!!
If you build it right...it will turn left!!!

Thanks car62. I still don't understand why Ford would do that. Only thing I can think of is the way the TFI is driven may pull the gear down and not up like other type of engines.
