    ranger flywheel????

I'm building a 83 fairmont for a mini stock class. I was wondering if a ranger 2.3 fly wheel will work with a 83 2.3 mustang/fairmont clutch and SROD 4 speed trans? thanks!

Yes but its way too heavy for racing, lots of guys use a 91-96 escort 1.9L flywheel, still stock but roughly 6# lighter. Bolts right up to a 2.3 crank but MAKE SURE you use shorter flywheel bolts. Your clutch should bolt right up also.

What size bolts would I use then? Advance sells a replacement 1.9 flywheel for around $65.

Same thread about 1/4-3/8" shorter than the OEM 2.3 bolts. The long ones bottom out & dont truly tighten with the escort fly making for a loose flywheel!

Is the tooth count the same on the escort flywheel?
