A simple question

I moved out of what would be called mini modified down to a class of front wheel drive cars, Ive currently been running very well over the last two years after changing classes. my question is I wanna change my wheels over to race wheels and was wondering if it would be a good move,what is some of the Gains-Loss's by doing this Also Should I change my tire pressures any at all? A good tire temp gauge and taking careful readings across the face of the tire should tell whether the tire pressure is correct.
