do you NEED to...probably not if you have a good battery...are there pros to running an alternator..YOU BET!!!No matter how hard you try...you cant fix stupid!!!

On my last 2300 race car, I had a switch to turn the alternator off. Made no difference in lap times but I never had the battery go dead at the track. If you want to really be trick, Speedway Motors has a switch that works off of vacuum that will shut off the alternator when the vacuum goes down and let it charge when under yellow flag laps. The Speedway switch is really for turning of the ac when your going up long hills.Comment
