Reusing used followers on a used cam ford 2300

Has any one heard of reusing the used padded followers on a different cam and smoothing them down with a belt sander before installing them on a different used cam .....heard this just want to no the rite way about doing it...

i have re-used them without smoothing them down many MANY times and never had an issue

If you plan on re-using them don't try "Touching them up". You will probably make them worse. You could very easily sand them crooked or change the geometry of them. They might look ok after sanding them but they won't be right. Also the hard surface on the pad isn't very deep. If they appear in pretty good shape then run them the way they are. I personally don't re-use them but some do and get away with it.
