    What to read?

New member, 1st post. I've been digging through the information here for a month or 2. I'm asking for suggestions on reading material for building 2.3 race motors. Books, threads or bathroom wall journals. If it's got good information, I want to read it. Not doing the turbo thing, but if there's applicable knowledge for na, I'll read it. Thanks.

There's all kinds of good info on here, how extensive is your knowledge of these motors? Lots of us here have done lots of builds of the 2.3L.

I've built motors for 20yrs. Mild to wild, but all mopar. I'm building a couple of 2.3's to start racing. I love to read about all kinds of external mods/fabs, but I have a good grasp on all the tuning and speed parts. What I am interested in is milling tolerances, stroker clearance tips, oil passage upgrades, best cast numbers to use. I have my own engine lathe and a few mills, so I'm doing all the trimming myself. Also need a template or template file for a torque plate. I want to make sure I get as much info from as many angles, before I start.

D4 heads flow the best in "untouched" trim, same with D4 intakes, also the D4 blocks can go to .060 over if need be...as far as rotating assembly, rod length depends on rules, track size,etc...
No matter how hard you try...you cant fix stupid!!!

If you build it right...it will turn left!!!

Good info. Thanks. I'm not restricted by any rules, not for an organized race class, just some loud mouth friends that need to eat some dust!

With the 2.3L fords older parts seem to be better, especially the heads. You can mill heads .150 safely on these. I have an E6 (1986) ranger block thats punched out .060 and it has no issues, Ive ran it 4 seasons on the dirt & its still got plenty of life left in it.
