ford mustang 4 cylinder timing

just looking to see what is the best timing to put my mustang motor on ..its a super stock 4....motor was breaking up this weekend and wouldn't turn over 5500 rpm.......just looking to see if this is the cause of it

Not likely but could be and timing depends on rod length i always ran 38-40. Check jets, power valve and check for fuel pullover
