Hey fellas, I've been working on a plan to build a Ranger for our local mini-stock class on the 1/6 mile but I'm pretty new to dirt track racing. I've watched a log, but my experience is all in drag racing, so I could use a lot of help. So far I've got a stripped 95' chassis, and a 2.3L that I had previously had built for a turbo engine but decided to go another direction. The rules are pretty strict about keeping everything stock, so here's the rundown; 2.3L punched 30 over and line honed, Weisco +30 forged pistons +3.4cc reliefs, Stock rods and crank, Cometic 0.027" Head Gasket, D-Port Head milled 0.100 for ~13:1 CR, SVO A231 Slider Cam, Ranger Roller Followers total ~0.425 Valve Lift, SVO Carb Intake, 4412 Carb, Schoenfeld Header, Escort Flywheel, Mustang PP and Clutch, Ranger M5OD trans, 7.5" Rear - 4.56 Gears. Any thoughts on this setup would be great. I'm still trying to figure out the suspension and tire setup. Suggestions? I have to keep the front springs and rear leafs, but can do a mono-leaf and racing shocks.

If its the Ibeam Chassis you're in for some real headaches. I think they started the a arm chassis around 1998. The Ibeam is horrible for circle track I ran it on asphalt managed to get it to work but on dirt I don't see how you can be competitive over some of the other chassis. I had to go super soft in the front to get it to work right. Heat and bend the correct ibeams some you can't do that too. Its super super temperamental. You don't need mono leafs. A 175 and 150 Rear multileaf on that track with and wheelbase truck will do fine. I ran 300s in the truck to almost allow it to coil bind because of the way the suspension is setup you have a hard time controlling the spring
