I believe imca mandates 1 3/4 for the cage so I think most cars are made as such. After that tube size is determined by area on the car and how much strength or flex is needed. My new mod that mrt built is a mixture of 1 3/4 cage, 1 1/2 lower frame rails and 1 1/4 most everywhere else.
