    Aviatin fuel?

I am sure this has been covered before. Does anyone run av fuel in there race engines? We have a sportmod w/dart steel heads around 450hp. 12 1/2: 1 comp. Its cheaper but is it worth it? Thanks

Many years ago i used to run a mix, 25 gal 120 octane av gas, 25 gal leaded supreme and 5 gal toluene. Worked really well, as racing gas was hard to come by, but may not be cheaper than racing gas today. My opinion is av gas is very dry with no lead and i don't know if you can add lube to it or not. jmo

I did some home work on it. AV gas is unleaded. It is designed to be run at hi altitude and at a steady RPM. My dad ran it in the 80s when it was leaded. Its not the same as it was.

I've used av fuel for a few years in 14.1 drag race motors and its 100 low lead 100 octane at 10000 feet elevation witch means it can be 120 here I never mixed it with other fuel just used top Lupe like for alchol and mixed half of what it said on bottle every thing always looked good at rebuild and I plan to use it in my mod this season. Its $5 gal here I buy 30gal at a time. U can mix like a cap full of atf to 5 Gal with out any issue also I have done this when out of top lube .....
        Hope this helps
