Gear/ heavy vs. Slick

Just curious. Do you run same gear for both types track or do you go higher or lower when track slicks off. Heard so many both ways I'm confused.

If you have a 650 gear when its tacky heavy and fast,when its dryslick you would go higher on gear number 668, 690 etc. at least most times,but there is always an exception to the rule.
